Gallery: 2009 visit - Mt Kenya Sponsored climb

Go back to the Photo Gallery index >

Mrs Liddle, Mr Liddle and Gill Elias climbed Mt Kenya, funded by themselves in order to raise awareness of Sherston Musul School and raise additional funds for Sherston Musul School itself. The team were supported by 3 porters, a guide and a cook.

The climb was much harder than the team expected, 3 days, 65km round trip. Rising from a starting height of 1986 meters in Nanyuki to 4,985meters on Point Lenana.

Both Mrs Liddle and Mr Liddle made it to the top of Mt Kenya despite suffering from severe altitiude sickness. It was certainly much harder than expected. The team made it back 3 days later to the Mount Kenya national park gates despite an encounter with a Mountain elephant and multitudes of other wild animals the team encountered on the way up and down the mountain.

If you would like to support the team for their efforts please send a cheque made payable to Mrs D Liddle and post it to Mrs D Liddle c/o Sherston CE School, Sherston, Knockdown Road, SN160NJ OR alternatively please use the Paypal donate button below to donate online. All funds go direct to funding the development and resourcing of Sherston Musul School.

This was no easy task and the evidence of what we look like before and during are evident enough of how tough it was on the team health. Happily we all recovered from our altitude sickness within 12 hrs. It took several days to recover our feet back to normal however - see thumbnails below.
